Hello, Angel Wellness Club 🤍
Lately, I've been spending a lot of time exploring the American wellness scene, especially here in New York. I've always loved discovering new products, interesting concepts, and seeing how our ideas about healthy living continue to evolve.
The industry is moving incredibly fast. There are functional drinks for sleep, energy and hormonal wellbeing, supplements in increasingly creative formats, and new technologies designed to help us track and understand our health. It feels like there's now a wellness product for almost everything.
But alongside all this innovation, I've been noticing another interesting shift. People are looking for more than new ways to improve their health. They also want to enjoy everyday life more: eating good food, feeling stronger, spending time with people they love, and discovering places they genuinely want to return to.
I feel especially connected to this direction. In New York, I see it in places like Erewhon and Happy Grocery, and in Monaco, it's something we're working to create at Angel Cakes. One of my favourite things is seeing guests come in not only for the food, but also to meet friends, connect with new people, or simply enjoy spending time together.
Whole Foods Market recently released its food trend predictions for 2027, and many of them reflect what I've been noticing. There's a renewed appreciation for simple, quality ingredients, curiosity about where our food comes from, and the pleasure of eating well. And when you look at the latest predictions from Global Wellness Summit, Mintel and McKinsey, it's clear that the changes go far beyond food, from strength training and nervous system health to a new appreciation for rest and meaningful connections.
So this week, we're looking ahead to 2027 to explore the wellness trends shaping the year ahead and which ideas are genuinely worth bringing into our lives.
With love,
Alina 🪽

Every year brings a new wave of wellness trends, from promising ingredients to innovations that claim to transform the way we live.
But looking at the latest predictions from Whole Foods Market, Global Wellness Summit, WGSN and McKinsey, something interesting is emerging. We're paying greater attention to how we feel, the people we spend time with and the experiences that make everyday life enjoyable.
Here are the trends we think are worth watching in 2027.
1. Ingredient minimalism: back to what matters
Fewer ingredients, more attention to quality.
One of the clearest themes in Whole Foods Market's 2027 forecast is ingredient minimalism — a growing preference for simpler, more recognizable ingredient lists.
Think freshly prepared vegetables, good olive oil, seasonal produce and recipes built around a handful of thoughtful ingredients.
Whole Foods Market also highlights two related movements: The Bean Boom, bringing chickpeas, lentils and beans back to the centre of the plate, and Terroir, a growing curiosity about where our food comes from and what makes it distinctive.
In Monaco, this approach feels particularly close to how I love to cook: choosing beautiful ingredients, respecting their natural flavours and not overcomplicating them.
🪽 Our take: The most exciting food trend of 2027 might not be a new superfood at all. It could simply be a renewed appreciation for ingredients we've known and loved for generations.
2. Functional everything: does every drink need a purpose?
The drinks aisle is starting to look like a wellness department.
If there's one category I keep noticing in the American market, it's functional beverages.
There are so many drinks in cans now, each promising something different: relaxation, focus, digestion, energy or hormonal wellbeing.
Two directions have particularly caught my attention
1) botanical drinks made with herbs, roots and complex flavours.
Think ginger, rosemary, bitter citrus and other botanicals that make a non-alcoholic drink feel like a proper ritual.
Interestingly, Whole Foods Market also predicts a rise in bitter flavours for 2027, from herbal aperitifs and alcohol-free cocktails to bitter greens and unexpected botanical combinations.
2) beverages designed around women's health, including products marketed for different menstrual phases, perimenopause and menopause.
I find this innovation exciting, especially as women's health receives more attention. But there's an important distinction between a thoughtfully formulated drink and one whose marketing promises more than the ingredients can deliver.
🪽 Our take: We're interested in functional drinks that offer something genuinely useful: thoughtful ingredients, enjoyable flavours and credible research behind their claims.
3. Strong is the new goal
For years, much of the wellness conversation directed at women focused on weight, appearance and maintaining a particular body shape.
Now, another perspective is gaining momentum: strength, mobility and long-term physical independence.
I think the most meaningful part is the change in mindset. Strength training isn't simply about building visible muscle. It's about supporting our bodies as we age, maintaining our ability to move confidently and investing in what we'll be capable of years from now.
🪽Our take: Imagine replacing the familiar question of how you'd like your body to look next summer with something else: What would I love to be able to do with my body a year from now?
Perhaps it's doing your first proper push-up, comfortably carrying your luggage, improving your balance or feeling stronger during everyday activities.
This is one of my favourite trends because it's something I get to observe firsthand.
Mintel's 2027 forecast highlights a shift towards participation: people increasingly want to engage with brands through meaningful experiences, shared activities and a genuine sense of community.
In New York, places like Erewhon and Happy Grocery show how food retail can become part of a lifestyle and social experience.
I see the same potential in Dubai, where cafés and community experiences are such an important part of the wellness landscape. And in Monaco, creating that sense of connection at Angel Cakes has been especially meaningful to me. There's something wonderful about seeing familiar faces return, people starting conversations and a space gradually becoming part of their everyday lives.
🪽 Our prediction: The wellness spaces that matter most in 2027 won't necessarily be the ones with the most advanced technology. They'll be the places we genuinely want to return to and where we feel we belong.
5. Beautrition: when food becomes skincare
Your next beauty essential might be on your plate.
What if your skincare routine started in the kitchen?
One of Whole Foods Market's most interesting predictions for 2027 is Beautrition — the growing intersection of beauty and nutrition, where food is increasingly marketed for its potential skin benefits.
Think collagen jelly sticks, skin-supporting gummies, olive oil shots and beauty-focused drinks. The line between supplements, snacks and skincare is becoming increasingly blurred.
But what's especially interesting is the return of familiar, nutrient-rich foods.
Sardines are gaining attention for their omega-3 fatty acids and vitamin D. Oysters provide zinc and copper, nutrients involved in maintaining healthy skin and connective tissue. Even everyday vegetables like carrots, cabbage and cucumbers are finding their way into beauty conversations.
And if you've visited Erewhon in Los Angeles, you've probably noticed how naturally beauty and nutrition already come together in its smoothie culture. A drink can be a beauty ritual, a wellness purchase and a social media moment all at once.
🪽 Our take: We love the idea of beauty beginning with nourishment, but we'd rather see more variety, healthy fats and nutrient-rich ingredients on our plates than another product promising perfect skin.
6. Neurowellness: the nervous system is having a moment
The next wellness frontier isn't just about how we look or perform, but how we feel.
We've spent years tracking steps, calories, sleep scores and heart rate. Now, the wellness industry is turning its attention to something less visible: our nervous system.
The Global Wellness Summit identified The Rise of Neurowellness as one of its major 2026 trends, with momentum expected to continue into 2027.
The idea is to move beyond occasional stress relief and pay more attention to our ability to recover, adapt and respond to everyday pressures.
And the category is already expanding in two very different directions:
There are familiar practices finding a new audience: breathwork, yoga, meditation, restorative movement and sensory experiences designed to help us unwind.
There's an emerging wave of neurotechnology, including wearable devices, neurofeedback tools and products designed to stimulate the vagus nerve.
🪽Our take: You don't necessarily need another gadget to support your nervous system. Regular movement, sufficient sleep, time outdoors and meaningful social connections remain valuable foundations. The most promising innovation is the kind that helps us feel better without giving us another metric to worry about.
The bigger picture
Looking at these trends together, one thing stands out.
We're seeing extraordinary innovation in wellness, from functional nutrition and neurotechnology to more personalized approaches to health.
Yet some of the things we're becoming more interested in are simple: fresh food, a stronger body, sharing a meal and enjoying a little more of everyday life.
And I think that's a lovely direction for wellness to take 💚
